The Long Ryders are an American alternative country and Paisley Underground band that was mainly active between 1983 and 1987. In response to fan requests, the group has frequently come back together for brief reunions (2004, 2009, 2016).
Several multi-instrumentalist American artists influenced by bands like Gram Parsons, The Byrds, and different country and punk rock bands came together to form The Long Ryders. Their name is a reference to the Walter Hill movie The Long Riders.
