Akiva Schaffer founded the American comedic troupe The Lonely Island. The comic music of Jorma Taccone and Andy Samberg is their most well-known work. The group is headquartered in New York City and is originally from Berkeley, California.
The trio's collaborative effort, which included Taccone and Schaffer as writers and Samberg as a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 2005 to 2011, led to the group's success. Taccone, Samberg, and Schaffer all left their positions at SNL; Taccone left at the end of the 2010–2011 season, and Samberg and Schaffer left the following year.
