Bobby Farrelly and his younger brother Peter are natives of Rhode Island. The two began their writing careers in the 1980s after graduating from Providence College in Providence. Two episodes of the critically acclaimed television show Seinfeld gave them their first credit. This resulted in an agreement to produce Dumb and Dumber, their debut motion picture starring Jim Carrey.
The movie was a commercial success, grossing over $340 million globally, and it gave the brothers their first Hollywood break. Conundrum Entertainment, which has created and produced a variety of films, including Kingpin Outside Providence, Me Me, and Irene and Says it Isn't So, was founded by the brothers after the success of their debut film.
