About The Dear Hunter
The Dear Hunter Biography
The Dear Hunter began as a side project for vocalist and keyboardist Casey Crescenzo, who was formerly a member of the Boston emo band the Receiving End of Sirens. The Dear Hunter was conceived as a side project for Crescenzo's tracks that didn't match the strong post-hardcore atmosphere of the Receiving End of Sirens. Indeed, Crescenzo's first performance as the Dear Hunter was as an opener for the Receiving End of Sirens, when he was backed up by the rest of the band. Crescenzo, on the other hand, chose to quit the Receiving End of Sirens and devote his whole attention to the Dear Hunter shortly after. Following a self-released EP called Dear Ms. Leading, Crescenzo composed and recorded Act I: The Lake South, The River North, a full-length concept album. The CD tells the tale of a little boy's birth, adolescence, and death, with prog-influenced chamber-pop compositions nearly completely performed by Crescenzo, with a few family members and friends assisting on drums, keyboards, trumpet, and harmony vocals. Crescenzo — who is now known as Casey Blue in the band's official profile – put together a full-band version of the Dear Hunter for touring reasons, which included guitarist Erick Serna, extra keyboardist Luke Dent, and drummer Sam Dent. In 2007, the lineup was utilized to produce Act II: The Meaning Of, And All Things Regarding Ms. Leading, a more energetic and orchestral second album. Act III: Life and Death was the band's third part in the series, which they released in 2009 before moving on to a new idea. The concept was implemented as a series of nine EPs based on the colors of the spectrum, which were finally gathered into one volume in 2011 with the publication of The Color Spectrum. Crescenzo returned in 2013 with the more conventional album Migrant, taking a break from the expansive idea of the Act albums.
