About The Commodores
The Commodores Biography
Lionel Richie played consoles, saxophone, and vocals; Thomas McClary played guitar; William King played trumpet; Andre Callahan played drums; Michael Gilbert played bass; and Milan Williams played consoles. According to legend, King threw a word reference that was obvious from all angles, and when it fell, it highlighted an unusual word on the page it opened to. The birth of the Commodores. The Montgomery, Alabama, group began acting while they continued their exams, and their excitement quickly rose. Meeting Benjamin Ashburn, a seasoned advertising executive who signed on as its director, was a turning point in the group's career. The Commodores improved their public image by touring the New York and European Club Scenes through careful planning and extensive street appearances. The Commodores auditioned in 1971 for the Jackson 5's European tour opening act. Motown noted them when the Jackson 5 paid them a visit in November. Along these lines, they appeared in Japan and broke the previous record established by the Beatles by drawing 150 000 spectators in four days in the Philippines. Their debut album, Machine Gun, released in 1974, has since become the best-selling global album. Williams' instrumental tune Machine Gun rose from the R&B charts to hit position #22 on the U.S. charts.
