The Cactus Blossoms sound eerily like a family-friendly act that recently left the stage of the Louisiana Hayride or the Grand Ol' Opry during the 1940s or 1950s, and there's a good reason for that. Guitarists and artists Page Burkum and Jack Torrey are siblings (Jack adopted a stage name when he first started as a vocalist/musician at 19).
Their voices blend in a way that suggests Minneapolis, Minnesota, where I was raised Burkum, and Torrey grew up listening to pop radio and excellent Beatles albums. Still, they also had a mutual love of traditional country and popular music. In 2010, they began performing together under the name the Cactus Blossoms.
