Terrence A. Duffy Biography

Since 2012, Terrence A. Duffy has served as interim Executive Chairman and President of CME Group. He is responsible for overseeing the commercial hubs of most of his subordinates and the whole planet. CME Group handled 3.4 billion contracts for futures and options in 2011, with a notional value of more than $1 quadrillion. Since July 2007, Duffy has served as acting executive chairman of CME Group. Since April 2002, he has served as executive chairman and chairman of the Board of directors of CME and CME Holdings, respectively. From the time of the company's arrangement in August 2001 until April 2002, he served as vice chairman of the boards of both CME Holdings Inc. and CME. From 1981 until 2002, he served as TDA Trading Inc.'s president. He has been a member of the Board since 1995 and the CME since 1981. President Bush appointed him to the National Saver Summit on Retirement Savings in 2002. Additionally, President Bush appointed Duffy to the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board in 2003 and was approved by the U.S. Senate (FRTIB). The Thrift Savings Plan, which now has more than 3.5 million participants and $190 billion under management, is administered by the FRTIB and is an expenditure conceded characterized commitment (retirement investment funds) plan for government representatives. Duffy now holds the positions of Co-Chair of the Mayo Clinic Greater Chicago Leadership Council, Member of the Board of Directors of World Business Chicago, Trustee of Saint Xavier University, and Regional Advisory Board of The American Ireland Fund. Additionally, he serves as vice chairman of the CME Group Foundation, whose mission is to improve financial opportunity, health, and education, particularly for kids with disabilities. Duffy belongs to the Chicago Council on Global Affairs' President's Circle, the Chicago Executives Club, and the Economic Club of Chicago. Irish America Magazine has regarded him as one of the top 100 Irish business leaders since 2003. Duffy attended Wisconsin-Whitewater University. He received a Doctor of Humane Letters degree from DePaul University in 2007.
