On November 30, 2010, Teresa Tomlinson, the current mayor of Columbus, Georgia, was elected with 68% of the vote to become the city's 69th mayor. She was officially sworn in as the first female chairman of the town on January 3, 2011.
She was elected to a second term on May 20, 2014, with 63% of the vote, making her the first mayor since the city's incorporation in 1971 to do so in a contest.
