The CEO of Clean Start Kenya and a fellow philanthropist is Teresa Njoroge. She was mistakenly held responsible for a fraudulent trade while pursuing her childhood aspiration of a career in finance. Njoroge was sentenced to incarceration in the high-security Langata Women's Maximum Prison and was required to accompany her three-month-old kid.
After losing her job and social position, she became motivated to help Kenyan men and women who were stuck in a cycle of poverty, trivial crimes, and prison time by giving them access to formal education, employment opportunities, and creative skills.
