Jazz trumpeter Terence Blanchard emerged as a prominent metal player, bandleader, recording artist, orchestrator of film soundtracks, and pioneer in the post-bop network in the post-Wynton Marsalis era. in New Orleans, Louisiana, on March 13, 1962. Terence, The only child of Wilhelmina and Joseph Oliver Blanchard, Oliver Blanchard was raised alone. He began playing the piano when he was five years old, switched to the trumpet three years later, and performed with his dear friend Wynton Marsalis at summer band camps. In addition, he attended extracurricular lessons with Roger Dickerson and Ellis Marsalis at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts while still in high school. Blanchard studied at Rutgers University in New Jersey with Paul Jeffrey and Bill Fielder from 1980 to 1982 while touring with Lionel Hampton's ensemble. As a leading soloist and lyrical leader of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers from 1982 until 1986, Blanchard replaced Wynton Marsalis at his insistence. Then, in five years, he co-led a famous quintet with saxophonist Donald Harrison, releasing seven albums for Concord Columbia and Evidence record labels as a show homage to the Eric Dolphy/Booker Little group.
