She made her debut on stage in the 2003 Broadway revival of the musical Gypsy: A Musical Fable, playing Louise/Gypsy, for which she was nominated for a Tony Award and won a Theater World Award. She has been given the Emmy Award for portraying a young Judy Garland in the television movie Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows. She also appeared in the 2011 Broadway revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying as Hedy LaRue, for which she was nominated for a 2011 Tony Award for Featured Actress in a Musical. Bayonne, New Jersey, is where Blanchard was created. In the 1997 drama Guiding Light, where she played the devastated affluent young girl Drew Jacobs, she made her acting debut. Over the years, her role in the program grew, and by the time of her departure in 2000, she had established herself as a critical figure in the scheme. Later, she was cast in the 2001 television documentary Life with Judy Garland: I and My Shadows as the younger version of Judy Garland, played by Judy Davis.
