She made her debut on stage in the 2003 Broadway revival of the musical Gypsy: A Musical Fable, playing Louise/Gypsy, for which she was nominated for a Tony Award and won a Theater World Award. She has been given the Emmy Award for portraying a young Judy Garland in the television movie Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows.
She also appeared in the 2011 Broadway revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying as Hedy LaRue, for which she was nominated for a 2011 Tony Award for Featured Actress in a Musical. Bayonne, New Jersey, is where Blanchard was created.
