He currently attends the American University in Washington, D.C., where he double majors in secondary education and public relations and strategic communications as a Frederick Douglass Distinguished Scholar. Tamir is a proud training nerd, an outspoken reformer, and a speaker. At 17, Tamir co-founded UrbEd Inc.

This non-profit organization promotes effective urban education by working to end the school-to-jail pipeline, increase teacher diversity, enhance learning environments, and support local school governance. Tamir has made a significant, long-lasting change. I've had the privilege of serving in various roles using that approach. Tamir is the Black Youth Network's programs director and UrbEd Inc.'s executive director.
