Sverrir Gudnason, a Swedish actor of Icelandic descent, was born on September 12, 1978; his full name is Sverrir Páll Gudnason. Gudnason was reared in Reykjavik, Iceland, after being born in Lund, Sweden. He relocated to Tyresö, Sweden, with his family in 1990 after his father was hired as a professor at the Royal Institute of Technology. He won the Best Actor prize at the 2009 Shanghai International Film Festival for his performance in the Swedish/Danish movie Original. Since then, he has performed prominent parts in shows at the city theatres in Gothenburg and Stockholm and Pontus Höijer in the second season of Wallander. In addition, in the 2017 movie Borg vs. McEnroe, he was cast as Björn Borg. In the suspenseful film The Girl in the Spider's Web from 2018, he portrayed Mikael Blomkvist. In the 2020 movie Falling, which Viggo Mortensen wrote, directed, and starred in, Gudnason describes the caustically sexist father as a challenging young family man in the flashback sequences.
