During clinical school, she spent a year at the UCSF-SFGH researching the emotional well-being outcomes of low-paid Latina mothers with gestational diabetes and infant blues. While at UCSF, she translated an Arabic version of an online state-of-mind screener, whose results went toward a groundbreaking assessment of the psychological well-being of Arabic-speaking networks worldwide. Later, she focused her efforts on the Turkish-Syrian border region, where she worked in a makeshift polyclinic that provided care for 20,000 refugees displaced by the ongoing fighting in Syria. She is passionate about social fairness and women's emotional, physical, and mental health.
