Susan received the title of Miss America in 1981 in September of 1980. She has appeared in front of people in theatres, playhouses, show corridors, and on address platforms all across the country in the years after the end of her rule.
She appeared opposite Larry Gatlin in his musical Texas Flyer during her performance at Theater Under the Stars in Houston. She also played the champion Margarita in the world premiere of the new musical Zorro. With the Seattle Opera, Miss Powell made her operatic debut as Adele in Die Fledermaus.
