In the 1980s, Susan Kare, a craftswoman, and visual designer created a sizable portion of the interface parts for the Apple Macintosh. She was one of the original employees of NeXT, founded by Steve Jobs after he left Apple in 1985, serving as the Creative Director.
Beginning in 1982, a member of the initial Apple Macintosh configuration group, Kare, worked at Apple Computer. Kare's first job was to organize UI designs and textual styles for the Macintosh development group. Later, she worked as a Creative Director for Tom Suiter, the director of Apple Creative Services.
