Susan Fales-Hill, a self-described warrior for pleasure and compassion, has committed her twenty-seven-year literary career to healing the American racial gap by deconstructing stereotypes of women and people of color. It's almost as if she was born to do this job. Her parents' interracial marriage in 1958 made national news, as did her childhood, which was really multicultural long before the phrase was coined. Her mother, Josephine Premice, was a trailblazing singer/actress/dancer who worked with Lena Horne and Alvin Ailey, while her father, Timothy Fales, was from a white Social Register family.
