Prior to Disney Florida, Susan Carol McCarthy was raised in a moving wooded environment. The little daughter of free citrus growers chose to press natural products into bushel containers and serve freshly squeezed orange juice for onlookers beside Route 441.
McCarthy, an English literature graduate of the University of South Florida, wrote the advertising copy for the city of Orlando's freshly built Walt Disney World. McCarthy then married a Californian and made San Diego his permanent home as a consultant following successful stints at McCann Erickson Advertising in Atlanta and San Francisco.
