On June 6th, 2006, Dr. Suja Lowenthal was chosen to address the Second District in a unique political contest that was hanging. In June 2008, she was reappointed to a four-year term after winning an uncontested race. In 2010, her fellow council members elected her vice mayor.
She graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, California State University, Los Angeles with a Master of Business Administration, and USC with a Doctorate in Policy Planning and Development.
