In 2003, Jennifer Nettles, Kristian Bush, and Kristen Hall formed the original Sugarland. Each of the three had performed before, Jennifer with the Jennifer Nettles Band and Kristian with Soul Miner's Daughter since one of Billy Pilgram and Kristen's two partners was an independent artist.
The group traveled to Mercury Nashville in 2004 and released their presentation collection Twice the Speed of Life there. Baby Girl, the first song, gradually ascended the charts until peaking at No. 2. The fun Down in Mississippi and Something More Just Might (Make Me Believe) are two more singles from the compilation (Up to No Good).
