The Sugarhill Gang is an American hip hop group best known for their 1979 hit Rapper's Delight, which was the first rap record to reach the Billboard Hot 100's Top 40. The song's base is an interpolation of the instrumental part from Chic's popular song Good Times.
Michael Wonder, Mike Wright, Henry Big Bank, and Henry Big Bank, all from Englewood, New Jersey, were among the members. Guy Master Gee O'Brien and Hank Jackson Producer Sylvia Robinson, who formed Sugar Hill Records with her husband, record producer Joe Robinson, put the three together as a trio.
