Stuart Woods was born in the small Southern town of Manchester, Georgia, attended the local state-funded schools, and then graduated with a BA in humanities from the University of Georgia. He can't think of a reason.
Following graduation, he spent a year in Atlanta and two months getting ready for the Air National Guard's "draft-dodger program," as he refers to it. He relocated to New York at that point in the 1960 harvest season in search of a composing job.
