From 1983 to 1992, he held operating and finance positions in the Distribution Division, corporate controllers, internal audit, softwood lumber, and forest resources.
Between 1992 and 1994, he was director of acquisitions and divestitures, leading key corporate development activities. He joined the Packaging Group as division controller in 1994 and was promoted to division controller, containerboard and packaging, the next year.
