He is most known as a member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, where he plays guitar and mandolin, and as an on-screen character in the television program The Sopranos. Van Zandt, sometimes known as Little Steven or Miami Steve, is a seasoned guitarist, arranger, and producer best known for his work with Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes.
He departed the E Street Band in 1984 (Springsteen's song Bobby Jean largely represents this break) and has since been involved with many solo melodic enterprises and coordinated efforts ranging from soul music to hard rock here and there, fronting a group known as The Disciples of Soul.
