As a youngster making his off-Broadway debut in the restoration of The Lion in Winter, on-screen character Steve Guttenberg trained at New York's High School of the Performing Arts Julliard and the Actors Studio. He first appeared in front of the cameras in the 1976 television film Something for Joey.
The next year, he had his big-screen debut in The Chicken Chronicles, and three years later, he was featured in his own weekly TV arrangement Billy (he was thus top-charged in the unusual 1982 summer-substitution week by week No Soap Radio).
