Microsoft's former chief executive officer was Steven Anthony Ballmer. From January 2000 until February 2014, he was the CEO of the technology behemoth, and he was succeeded by Satya Nadella. Ballmer resigned from the Board of Directors in August 2014. Ballmer is the current owner of the National Basketball Association's Los Angeles Clippers (NBA).
In addition, Ballmer founded the nonprofit organization Ballmer Group, which has vowed to fund local efforts to alleviate economic inequality. He left out of Stanford's MBA school in 1980 to join Harvard classmate Bill Gates as employee number 30. In April 2014, he officially became Microsoft's largest single shareholder, as Gates continues to sell shares as he diversifies his money.
