Steve Arwood has been named COO of the Michigan Economic Development Corp. Since being appointed by Gov. Rick Snyder in January, Arwood has served as acting chief of the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. He succeeds Steven Hilfinger, who left the MEDC as COO and official VP in June to rejoin Foley & Lardner LLP.
Arwood is on the board of the Michigan Strategic Fund, and prior to managing LARA, he worked in the division in charge of the Unemployment Insurance Agency. Prior to that, he was the Windlab Developments USA Ltd.'s U.S. provincial executive. He attended Michigan State University's James Madison College. Mike Zimmer was also designated acting chief of LARA today.
