Mr. Kaplan founded Oaktree and is the main leader of the Principal Group. The Principal Group is in charge of about $10.2 billion in capital and important minority positions. He joined Oaktree in 1995, having previously served as TCW's supervising chief and portfolio supervisor of TCW Special Credits Fund V " The Principal Fund. Mr.
Kaplan formerly worked with the legal firm of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher and was responsible for the company's East Coast insolvency and exercise practice. During his legal career, Mr. Kaplan gained experience in transactions such as the purchase and sale of businesses undergoing financial reorganization.
