Born in London and raised in the English countryside Stella McCartney left Central Saint Martins in 1995. Her debut collection immediately established a signature style of crisp fitting regular certainty and seductive womanliness, and after only two collections in 1997, she was named Creative Director of Chloe in Paris, where she enjoyed tremendous success throughout her time.
Stella McCartney launched her own fashion brand under her own name in collaboration with Kering as a 50/50 joint venture, and debuted her first collection in Paris in October 2001. Stella McCartney, a devoted vegetarian, does not use cowhide or skin in her designs.
