Staceyann Chin is a spoken word poet, performance artist, and political activist for LGBT rights. Her writing has appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, and Pittsburgh Daily, as well as on 60 Minutes. She was also featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show, where she described her experiences growing up homosexual in Jamaica.
Chin was born in Jamaica but currently resides in Brooklyn, New York. She is of Chinese and Afro-Jamaican ancestry. She revealed in 2011 that she was expecting her first child, a girl, in January 2012.
