She joined the cast of the Golden Globe-winning historical drama Downton Abbey in the autumn of 2010. Daisy Mason has appeared in every episode of the show to far. McShera was born and reared in Holme Wood Bradford Yorkshire in a big Irish family. She relocated to Eccleshill, also in Bradford, when she was young and attended St Joseph's College.
She attended the Footsteps Theatre School after leaving school before making her theatrical debut at the age of twelve in the comedy The Goodbye Girl. She then went on tour with Annie before finishing her GCSEs and A-levels and enrolling at Brunel University London, where she got a degree in acting.
