TED Fellow Sophal Ear is an Assistant Professor at the US Naval Postgraduate School's Department of National Security Affairs. In support of the Pacific Partnership 2008, he lectured on the medical ship USNS Mercy. He finished his postdoc at Syracuse University's Maxwell School, where he taught Policy and Administration in Developing Countries.
Before entering academia, he advised for the World Bank and worked for the United Nations Development Programme. Early in his career, he traveled to the West Bank and Gaza, as well as Algeria, on social protection programs, where he obtained personal knowledge of the problems of national-scale foreign aid.
