Sonya Dyhrman works as an oceanographer at Columbia University's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory. Her work on microorganisms and their roles in creating oxygen, absorbing carbon dioxide, and fuelling the marine food chain has received multiple accolades. She was been appointed a SCOPE Investigator by the Simons Foundation. She was a Sir Allan Sewell Fellow at Griffith University in Australia.
