SoMo (Joseph Somers-Morales) is an American R&B and Pop singer-songwriter from Denton, Texas. He began his professional music career in 2011, achieving fame on YouTube with the production of original music and popular cover songs by recording artists such as Chris Brown, The Weeknd, and Drake.

He acquired a recording contract with Republic Records in 2013 and remastered his 2012 mixtape My Life and breakthrough song Ride. On April 8, 2014, his self-titled first album SoMo was released. SoMo and his father used to perform in renowned bars in Austin, Texas.

His father was a member of the jazz rock band Duck Soup, and SoMo claims that as a small boy, his father was not always available to him because of music. Throughout high school, he avoided music; nevertheless, for Christmas in 2008, he received a piano from his mother and taught himself to play by ear.

SoMo began recording covers in 2009. After a successful mashup of Drake's Take Care in 2011, his cover videos were seen over 50 million times on YouTube. SoMo began working on original songs in 2012.

His studio efforts resulted in the independent debut mixtape My Life, which blended R&B energy with pop soul and showcased his powerful vocal and compositional abilities. On September 11, 2013, his birthday, the mixtape was made available for free. As part of his SoMo Sunday promotion, he released a new cover video every Sunday.

On YouTube, the series received over 50 million views.
