Dr. Sofia Jawed-Wessel uses scientific investigations to teach and produce new information in the field of public health. Her studies have focused on understanding and enhancing the sexual health of women and couples as they enter parenting, including recording sexual behaviors, sexual function, relationship adjustment, and general sexual changes during pregnancy and after childbirth.
Jawed-lessons Wessel's take a sex-positive and pleasure-inclusive approach to giving medically correct, comprehensive sexuality education to undergraduate students as well as the community of Omaha, Nebraska. She instructs graduate-level courses in research methods, health behavior theory, and leadership and advocacy. Jawed-Wessel also advocates for reproductive justice and women's rights.
