Coppola is the daughter of Francis Ford Coppola, the sister of Roman Coppola, the niece of Talia Shire, and a cousin of Nicolas Cage, Jason Schwartzman, and Robert Schwartzman. She attended Mills College and the California Institute of the Arts. Coppola's cinematic career began when she was an infant or a kid extra in numerous of her father's films. Her best-known anonymous part is that of the infant boy in the baptism scene in The Godfather. She also appears in Coppola's film The Outsiders, in a scene when Matt Dillon, C. Thomas Howell, and Ralph Macchio are conversing at a drive-in before the iconic burning church sequence. Anna was the first picture in which she appeared that was unrelated to her father. Her best-known part, however, is Mary Corleone in The Godfather Part III, a role she was put in at the last minute after Winona Ryder became ill. Except for an appearance in the independent film and a tiny part in, her acting career was effectively halted by her widely panned performance (for which she earned the award for Worst New Star in the 1990 Golden Raspberry Awards). She appeared as a gymnast in the Chemical Brothers' Elektrobank video, which was directed by her then-husband Spike Jonze.
