Sofi Tukker's success was not intended. Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern met at a Brown University art event where they both happened to be performing, and the band was born.
It only took a few months for the NYC-based pair to write their viral hit Drinkee, which has since been used in an Apple Watch commercial, has over 20 million Spotify listens, and has garnered a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording. The song was their debut and provided the foundation of their enormously popular EP Soft Animals.
