Slipknot is a heavy metal band comprised of nine male members that rose to prominence due to their aggressive music and spectacular stage performances. This band was founded in late 1995 in the unusual location of Des Moines, Iowa, and consists of three percussionists, two guitars, one bassist, a DJ, a sampler, and a lead singer. Aside from their given names, members of the band are also known by the numbers 0 through 8, and each of them wears a mask that they describe as an extension of their personality. To clarify that all the group members think that wearing the masks displays more of what they are like inside and what the music does to them inside. Chris Fehn, the band's custom percussionist, is ranked third. He was born on February 24, 1974, and is considered the group's comic. Number four is guitarist Jim Root. He was born on October 2, 1971, and was a timid young man before joining Slipknot. His mask resembles Mike Myers from Halloween, but with scars running vertically.
