Sleigh Bells is a noisy pop music duo from the United States. On May 11, 2010, the band released their debut album Treats. Based in Brooklyn, New York Derek E. Miller (composer guitarist producer) and Alexis Krauss make up Sleigh Bells (vocals). Miller was a member of the hardcore band Poison the Well, while Krauss was a member of the teen pop group Rubyblue. Miller met Alexis and her mother in 2008 while working as a waitress at Miss Favela, a neighborhood Brazilian restaurant. Miller indicated that he was searching for a female vocalist to collaborate with on a musical project, and Alexis' mother quickly offered her services. In October 2009, the pair played at the CMJ Music Marathon. They have subsequently signed to Mom + Pop Music an indie company located in New York. They first posted several tunes online, garnering notice from The Guardian, The New York Times, Pitchfork Media, ABC News' Amplified, and other publications. In December 2009, The Guardian awarded them Band of the Day. Crown on the Ground was ranked the 57th greatest tune of 2009 by Pitchfork.
