Sir Edward Lister was named Chief of Staff and Deputy Mayor for Policy and Planning by the Mayor of London in May 2011. In this capacity, he oversees the Mayoral Team's execution of the Mayor's priorities approach, as well as policy work and activities. As Mayor Chief of Staff, he is in charge of GLA budgeting and administration.
He is directly responsible for directing and overseeing operations at City Hall, in collaboration with the Head of Paid Service. Sir Edward provides strategic planning advice to the Mayor and oversees the London Plan and Community Infrastructure Levy. In this area, he delivers on the Mayor's employment and economic strategy.
