Shree Bose, a biology and medical student, was named both the winner of the 17-18 year old age group and the Grand Prize winner of the first Google Global Science Fair in 2011. Bose participated in the final event in Mountainview, California, against 10,000 students from 91 nations who submitted their ideas online.
After evaluation by a panel of science luminaries Bose was picked as the overall winner winning a $50000 Google scholarship a 10-day trip to the Galapagos Islands with a National Geographic Expedition a trip to CERN LEGO prizes and a subscription to Scientific American for her school.
