Shirley Halperin is Variety's Executive Editor of Music, where she oversees music coverage for both the print magazine and Variety.com. During her 20-year career, she has worked for Entertainment Weekly, Teen People, and Us Weekly, as well as being a frequent writer to Rolling Stone.
Shirley joined the Hollywood Reporter (THR) as Music Editor in 2010 subsequently adding sister publication Billboard to her CV. Until 2017 she managed music news coverage for both magazines. Shirley is the author of three books: Pot Culture: The A-Z Guide to Stoner Language and Life, published in 2008.
