Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson a theoretical physicist and notable black innovator has been recognized with creating several achievements in science. During her childhood, she had an interest in science and mathematics and undertook experiments and research such as those on honeybee feeding patterns. She pursued this passion at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where she earned a bachelor's and PhD degree in physics. She was the first African-American woman to receive a Ph.D. at MIT. While working at Bell Laboratories, Jackson conducted successful theoretical physics experiments and used her physics skills to promote telecommunications research.
