Sheryl Crow Biography

Sheryl Crow has received many Grammy nominations for her solo work, including her self-titled album Sheryl Crow. After college, she began her career as a music teacher at a St. Louis primary school. She began recording jingles for commercial companies such as McDonald's after coming to Los Angeles, and she also worked as a backup vocalist. She performed on Michael Jackson's Bad world tour in 1987-88. She went on to provide background vocals for Sting, Rod Stewart, and Don Henley. She began her career with the band The Tuesday Music Club, who produced the multi-platinum album Tuesday Night Music Club in 1993, which contained the big single All I Wanna Do. In 1995, she received three Grammy Awards: Best New Artist Record of the Year (for All I Want to Do), Best Female Pop Vocal Performance (for Tuesday Music Club), and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance (for All I Want to Do). She also appeared on MTV Unplugged in 1995. Crow's 1996 album Sheryl Crow earned her two Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album and Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. She spent much of 1997-98 on tour, appearing on select dates on the Rolling Stones' Bridges to Babylon tour and at the Lilith Fair performances in 1998. In the fall of 1998, she released her third album, The Globe Sessions, which won a Grammy for Best Rock Album. Crow won Best Female Rock Vocal Performance at the Grammy Awards in February 2000 for her interpretation of Guns 'n Roses' classic Sweet Child o'Mine. Crow's 2006 album Wildflower received three Grammy nominations.
