Shereen El Feki is a British author and journalist best known for her book Sex and the Citadel: Intimate Life in a Changing Arab World. Shereen El Feki, a TED Fellow, focused on health and social welfare concerns in the Arab area, particularly intimate perspectives regarding sexual (and political) liberties, as addressed in her book Sex and the Citadel.
She began her career in medical research with a PhD in molecular immunology from the University of Cambridge and then served as The Economist's health care reporter. She left the Economist in 2005 and anchored the weekly Al Jazeera International programmes People & Power and The Pulse from 2006 to 2008.
