Shawn Fanning is a computer programmer, entrepreneur, and angel investor from the United States. In 1999, he created Napster, one of the first prominent peer-to-peer ("P2P") file sharing networks. Napster's popularity was broad, and Fanning was featured on the cover of Time magazine.
