On April 27, 2015, Shanna Peeples was selected as the National Teacher of the Year for 2015. She traveled to the homeroom on her own. Before teaching, as she claims, was established, she worked as a columnist, plate racer's clinical right hand, and pet caretaker. Peeples is a teacher at Palo Duro High School in Amarillo, Texas.
She spends part of each day educating secondary school English and the other half mentoring and supporting her colleagues to pursue careers as teachers. Her students at Palo Duro High School come from varied backgrounds. Amarillo is one of the few American cities that help displaced residents acquire essential resources and find new routes through daily life.
