Shanina Shaik began her career when she was eight years old, although she took a sabbatical after being accepted into a program for accelerated secondary education. When she was 15 years old, Shanina started performing again and was given the title of a sprinter on the Australian reality television series Make Me A Supermodel.
She then made her runway debut at New York Fashion Week in the 2008–2009 season. Later, she was recruited into Victoria's Secret program and appeared in the brand's style show in 2011. Finally, at just 17, she relocated to New York City.
