Shaka Senghor

Shaka Senghor was raised in Detroit's east side during the split pestilence in a white-collar area. His parent's marriage began to fall apart when he was 11 years old, and his mother's beatings worsened matters. This sent him on a downward spiral that saw him flee the house, turn to tranquilizers to survive, and end up in jail for homicide at 19. However, he was a respectable understudy and a characteristic head with aspirations of becoming a specialist. Writing My Wrongs tells the story of what happened right away. Senghor discovered writing, reflection, self-evaluation, and the kindness of others during his nineteen-year confinement, seven of which were spent in isolation. He used these activities as weapons against the evil spirits of his past and as a way to start making amends for the wrongs he had accepted. After giving birth at 38, Senghor became an extremist and a mentor to children and women in similar circumstances. He received requests to speak at events like TED and the Aspen Ideas Festival due to his work in the network and the mental fortitude to share his tale. He also formed ties with the MIT Media Lab and the Kellogg Foundation.
