She has quickly established herself as a respected researcher in peacekeeping and peacebuilding, African governmental issues, global relations, and the legislative issues of philanthropic and advancement support.
She is a collaborator educator of political theory at Barnard College, Columbia University. The Trouble with the Congo: Local Violence and the Failure of International Peacebuilding, Autesserre's Grawemeyer Award-winning book published by Cambridge University Press in 2010, concluded her research in the Congo. The book also received the 2011 Chadwick-Alger Award from the International Studies Association.
